Award presentations in July

In my shack with the Grand Slam plaque

On Sunday 6 July, Tony VK3VTH, ARV Awards Manager, dropped in to my home en route to Tarra-Bulga National Park. The purpose of the visit was to present my KRMNPA plaques:
Merit Award #1 for Chasing all 45 Victorian National Parks,
Merit Award for Activating all 45 Victorian National Parks, and
Grand Slam plaque for having both Activating and Chasing all 45 Victorian National Parks.

The 2 Peters with some of their awardsTwo weeks later, I dropped into the Amateur Radio Victoria premises in Ashburton to sit in on the “Master Class – Portable operations” afternoon. During the afternoon, Peter VK3ZPF was presented with his plaques:
Merit Award #1 for Activating all 45 Victorian National Parks,
Merit Award for Chasing all 45 Victorian National Parks, and
Grand Slam plaque #1 for having both Activating and Chasing all 45 Victorian National Parks.

Peter VK3ZPF had activated his 45th National Park back in November 2012 during the KRMNPA Activity weekend.

On April 26 2014, I worked John VK5BJE/3 in Errinundra National Park for NP #45 chased. About 50 minutes later, Peter VK3ZPF worked VK3VTH/p in Little Desert National Park to complete his 45 Parks worked. The following day, I finally made the effort to get to French Island to activate French Island National Park for Park #45 activated. This was reported in my last blog entry.

Well done to Peter VK3ZPF on his achievements – Peter started out much earlier than I with the KRMNPA and his efforts and encouragement to all amateurs to participate in portable operations were one of the factors influencing me to start working towards the Keith Roget Memorial National Parks Award.

After making the presentations to VK3ZPF, Tony presented me with two certificates:
Victorian Local Government Award for having chased 40 Victorian local government areas and another Victorian Local Government Award for having activated 40 Victorian local government areas.

Thanks to ARV for the terrific plaques. Now I need to plan how and where to hang them on the radio shack wall!

So now there is a new challenge – make enough contacts from the Parks to earn WWFF as an activator……
